The Windows app is in the portal.
The app works for a workspace, so it is downloaded from inside one. Sign in, and the download is on the portal's front page, with its version and SHA-256 checksum.
Getting started
- Sign in to the portal and download the app. It is a single program; nothing else to install.
- Start it on a Windows 10 or Windows 11 computer. It shows a one-time code.
- Enter the code in the portal to connect the app to your workspace. Only an owner or operator can approve it.
- In the app, choose what to back up and sign in to Microsoft with your administrator account.
What the app needs
- Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit.
- An administrator account for the tenant. Backups ask for read permissions only.
- Microsoft's PowerShell modules for Exchange, Defender, Purview and Teams settings. The app checks for them and helps you install them.
- For scheduled backups: a computer that is on at the scheduled time, and the one-time setup that creates your organization's own app registration.
Check for updates, at the foot of the app, compares your copy with the one the portal offers. The app never downloads anything by itself: a new version opens in your browser.
